Laying Plans

Below are sketches Mom, Dad and I made for an urban compound one night at the rural compound. I lost my drawings (though some of dad’s reflect some of the ideas I was thinking about). I also redrew my concept (last drawing).

  1. I'm really happy that these images have been immortalized on the Rhino. We need to keep compiling stuff related to the urban compound which must surely become a reality one day. It's also interested to see how strongly elements from Croatan are represented here. Dad recycles the fireplace directly, and Barry has a really exaggerated take. Also, image number 2 (and 7) by dad are incredibly Frank Lloyd Wrighty. Dads number 5 look like a modernist plantation house.I'm probably most aligned with Mom's images though. Dig the multi-level distribution with southern exposure and getting deep into the landscape. A symbolic party tree is a good call. If we really executed all of those landscape ideas we would have to relocate everything back to the rural compound, I suppose. Maybe in a compressed form it could be done.
