Thanks Given

I give thanks for the wine and the food

I give thanks for the holiday mood

I give thanks for the laughter and fun

I give thanks for each daughter and son

And if this were my last earthly day

I’d give thanks that it ended this way

  1. Where's the usual gratuitous violence/anger of Dad poetry? Usually you write from the perspective of a scrooge. I mean, it's a nice sentiment and all, but I could see someone else writing this. I have revised it to be a more traditional dad poem:I give thanks for the wine and the foodI give thanks for the holiday moodI give thanks for the laughter and funI give thanks for the lead in my gun.And if this were my last earthly dayI'd give thanks that it ended this wayDone.

  2. Not all my poems are angry. Like my Gamma Robot series. But since you're hungrin for some ange mongrin, here's one just for you:Jimmy Joe Jack popped by my place today Looking at me in that menacing wayVainly, profanely saying what I should do\”I'd keep my mouth shut if I was like you\”Someday I'll stop letting Jim bring me downI'll take a lot, but don't kick me around Sanely, humanely I'll make Jimmy fallThey'll make me big boss and I'll rule 'em all
